The Lake....
Lake of the Woods covers close to 1,000,000 acres of water, with two-thirds of that area belonging to Canada. And with more shoreline than Lake Superior and 14,000 islands, you deserve to explore the Canadian waters of Lake of the Woods!
The Fishing....
Although walleyes still lead the pack when it comes to sport fishing on Lake of the Woods - these packages offer a truly multi-species mecca, so when you decide to take advantage of what few have done, we guarantee an experience of a lifetime. Keep a few fish to fry up after a day on the lake, take a few home and catch and release the rest.
Packages....
Anyone of our fishing packages can be converted to a "Canadian Fishing" package. Guests will stay each night at either the main lodge just north of Baudette, or start your trip at the main lodge and work your way to our Oak Island Lodge. Include meals with your trip and start your day out right with hearty breakfast selections, a bag lunch for afternoon break and enjoy evening dining selections second to none including steaks, seafood, ribs, chicken, walleye or pork selections.
Guides and Boats ....
Sportsman's has one of the top teams of guides on the lake. And each one has an extreme passion for fishing this vast resource, each day being a new challenge producing bigger results. Canadian fishing packages are limited to select guides so please call to check availability. Nothing but comfort when it comes to the boats, our 27' fiberglass charters are all equipped with cabin cuddy, restroom, and covered top to get you out of the elements. These boats are also very versatile when it comes to fishing rock structure, angling around sandbars, or skimming along weed beds.
Additional Requirements....
1. RABC - Remote Area Border Crossing Permit- is required for each guest to enter Ontario waters of Lake of the Woods each day. This permit is good for one year. You can apply by mail for the permit. This permit takes UP TO SIX WEEKS FOR DELIVERY. You can download the form at www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/rabc.html Cost of the permit is $30.
Do not mail the RABC form to Sportsman's Lodge. Mail the form to the address on the form. - Canada Border Services Agency RABC Processing Centre 201 North May Street Thunder Bay, ON P7C 3P4 Canada. Tel. 807-624-2162. Note additional postage necessary for International Mail.
2. Canadian Fishing License - Non-Residents of Ontario have a few options when it comes to a fishing license.
1. Non-resident Sport Fishing License - valid for either one calendar year or 8-days - Walleye limits with the Sport Fishing License - 2 per day and 4 in possession with only 1 over 18.1 inches per day. Cost: Year - $61.23/ 8-Day - $39.26
2. Non-resident Conservation License - valid for either one calendar year or 8-days - Walleye limits with the Conservation license - 2 per day with only 2 in possession. Only 1 may be over 18.1 inches per day. Cost: Year - $37.40/ 8-Day - $22.91
