Summer Activities

Sporting Clays

Shoot a round at S&M Sporting Clays. This five stand, ten station course is laid out with automatic traps, offering a variety of angles and target presentations. The range is open 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and by appointment throughout the week. Every Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until dusk the public is invited to the trap shooting range south of Baudette. Two trap houses and a rifle sitting range are available. Guns and ammunition are available at both locations.

Golf

Oak Harbor Golf Course is a beautiful nine-hole course located along the Rainy River 8.5 miles north of Baudette on highway 172. The course is open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week with cart and club rental available. The course operates from May 1st to November 1st, weather permitting.

Wild Harvest

Wild fruits found in northern Minnesota are used in various food products, including jams, jellies and syrups. Blueberries, juneberries, huckleberries, pincherries, and raspberries all ripen from the mid to end of July. Chokecherries are ready mid-August, and highbush cranberries ripen in September. Acorns, hazelnuts, and walnuts are typically gathered in the fall as well.

County Museum

Relive the past at the Lake of the Woods County museum. With a large display area, audio-visual programs, and a comprehensive library – including microfilm of the county newspapers from 1907-1960 – it’s a great way to learn about the far north of Minnesota. Exhibits focus on the geological formation of Lake of the Woods, the natural history of the area, native cultures, the great fire of 1910, commercial fishing, logging, and the pharmaceutical industry. The museum is open from May through September.
